Sowohl … als auch (Both … and) – Telc B1

sowohl … als auch is a two-part connector meaning "both … and". It links two parallel elements.

Er spricht sowohl Deutsch als auch Englisch. (He speaks both German and English.)
Sie mag sowohl Musik als auch Sport. (She likes both music and sport.)

Word order: The two parts frame the two items being linked. The verb and the rest of the sentence follow normal rules. Don’t confuse with nicht nur … sondern auch (not only … but also).
