Adjektivdeklination (Adjective Endings) – Telc B1

Intermediate German
Created by Best · 12.04.2026 at 16:05 UTC

In German, adjectives before nouns take endings that depend on article (definite, indefinite, or no article), gender, and case.

After definite article (der, die, das): -e, -e, -e (nominative singular); -en for accusative masculine and all plural, etc.
After indefinite (ein, eine) or no article: mixed endings (-er, -e, -es in nominative with ein; -en, -e, -e in accusative masculine, etc.).

Tip: At B1, focus on the most frequent patterns: nominative and accusative with definite article (der gute Mann, die gute Frau, das gute Kind, die guten Kinder).
