Verben mit Präpositionen (Verbs with Prepositions) – Telc B1

Intermediate German
Created by Best · 12.04.2026 at 16:05 UTC

Many German verbs fix a specific preposition and case. You need to learn the pair (verb + preposition).

Examples: warten auf + Akk (wait for), sich freuen auf + Akk (look forward to), sprechen mit + Dat (speak with), denken an + Akk (think of), sich interessieren für + Akk (be interested in).

Tip: The preposition often appears in the clause even when the object is a pronoun: Worauf wartest du?Ich warte auf den Bus. At B1, learning common verb–preposition pairs helps in Lesen and Schreiben.
